Suggested Guidelines To Stay Safe while Trading

Since we don’t have a official app to trade your digital trading cards with friends, families, and other festival goers, each Wizard, Witch, or Muggle has to make their own judgment call in how and who to trade cards with. This is especially important for adults who are helping their young magic makers trade and enjoy the fun. Here are a few tips to help you trade while keeping everyone safe and not sharing info you don’t wish to share.

  • Do Not put personal information on your or any minors trading card: We recommend creating fun first or last names but do not put any other personal information or personal contact information on your cards.

  • Only have young Witches and Wizards trade with people you know and trust: This should be obvious, but only allow minors trade with other kids close to their age and trusted family and friends.

  • Trade with friends and family that you know and trust: This way you can share using social media, a messager of your choice, NFC, AirDrop, or text message. We are lightheartedly calling this, “Trick or Treating” standards. If things don’t feel right, don’t ask for free candy, ie, politely decline trading with someone you don’t personally know.

  • Trading with Social Media Accounts: Only trade using your social media account if you are comfortable sharing those accounts publicly or with people you don’t personally know.

  • Trading using text messages: Only trade via text message if you are comfortable sharing your personal cell phone number with the person you are trading with.

  • Trading with AirDrop or Quick Share: Make sure to look at the file/image you are wishing to trade to confirm it’s not something inappropriate if trading with someone you don’t personally know. You can enabled the feature to only allow file sharing when approved so someone can’t just send a blast out to everyone who pops up on their phone.

  • Trading with a programed NFC wands or enchanted objects: If you are trading using the tap feature on a NFC enchanted wand or object, have anyone you don’t personally know demonstrate using their own phone that their link code isn’t anything malicious.

  • Never pay anyone to trade with: This is all for free. If someone is asking for money, they are trying to play you in not a nice way.

We know there are some bad apples in the world, but generally we think most people who are going to participate in trading wizardly cards at this years festival will be doing so to also enjoy the magical fun of the weekend. Use good judgment and have a good time!
